Pop! 'n Home Chef: Pop! Television #220 Eleventh Doctor & Steak Moutarde

Overview

  • Prep & Cook Time: 30-40 min.
  • Difficulty Level: Easy*
  • Spice Level: Not Spicy
  • Servings: 2

You Will Need

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. Grainy Mustard
  • ¼ oz. Parsley
  • 4 fl. oz. Light Cream
  • 14 oz. Sweet Potato
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 Sirloin Steaks
  • ⅗ oz. Butter
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Recipe Steps

Before You Cook

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Thoroughly rinse produce and pat dry
  • Prepare a baking sheet with foil and cooking spray
  • Ingredient(s) used more than once: mustard, parsley
  • Only half the cream is used in this recipe

Step 1 - Prepare the Ingredients

Halve sweet potato and cut each half into ½" wedges. Mince garlic. Stem and mince parsley. Pat steaks dry, and season both sides with ¼ tsp. salt and a pinch of pepper.

Step 2 - Cook the Sweet Potato Wedges

Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add 2 tsp. olive oil and sweet potato wedges to hot pan. Cook until golden brown, 2-3 minutes per side. Remove pan from burner and toss wedges with garlic, ½ tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper. Transfer wedges to one half of prepared baking sheet. Spread into a single layer and roast in hot oven, 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Sweet potato wedges will finish cooking in a later step. Wipe pan clean and reserve. While wedges roast, sear steaks.

Step 3 - Sear the Steaks

Return pan used to sear potato wedges to medium-high heat. Add 2 tsp. olive oil and steaks to hot pan. Sear undisturbed until browned, 2-3 minutes. Transfer steaks to a plate, seared side up. Spread ½ tsp. mustard (reserve remaining for sauce) on each steak and top with half the parsley (reserve remaining for garnish). Reserve pan; no need to wipe clean.

Step 4 - Finish the Sweet Potato Wedges and Steaks

Once sweet potato wedges have roasted 10 minutes, place steaks on empty half of baking sheet. Roast until wedges are tender and steaks reach a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 8-10 minutes. Rest steaks at least 3 minutes. While steaks rest, make sauce.

Step 5 - Make the Sauce

Return pan used to sear steaks to medium heat. Add half the cream to pan and stir occasionally until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Remove from burner, swirl in butter, and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir in remaining mustard. Plate dish as pictured on front of card, garnishing steaks with remaining parsley and sauce. Bon appétit!

Dorbz Checklist Updates: DC Comics, Guardians of the Galaxy, Batman, Stranger Things, and More

I've been working on getting the Dorbz Checklists added slowly but surely I'll be done. There are multiple ways to organize and each site has their own ideas since Funko hasn't really stated where everything belongs, so I will have a Complete Checklist with all the Dorbz in numerical order, and then break the rest out based on the boxes. Basically whatever the logo on the top of the box says is the series/checklist that it belongs to. Currently these are lists and nothing more, once I take a photo for my Dorbz Outside the Box photo series I'll link to them for those that might want to see what the Dorbz look like. See below for the newly added collections.

Pop! 'n Home Chef: Pop! Marvel #271 Spider-Girl & Parisian Bistro Steak

Overview

  • Prep & Cook Time: 45-55 min.
  • Difficulty Level: Intermediate **
  • Spice Level: Not Spicy
  • Servings: 2

You Will Need

Ingredients

  • 1 Shallot
  • 12 oz. Yukon Potatoes
  • 8 oz. Green Beans
  • 2 Sirloin Steaks
  • 4 fl. oz. Light Cream
  • ½ oz. Shaved Parmesan
  • 4 tsp. Beef Demi-Glace
  • ⅓ oz. Butter
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Recipe Steps

Before You Cook

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  • Thoroughly rinse produce and pat dry
  • Prepare a baking sheet with foil
  • Prepare a small casserole dish with cooking spray
  • Ingredient(s) used more than once: shallot

Step 1 - Prepare the Ingredients

Slice potatoes into thin rounds. Bring a medium pot with potatoes and enough lightly salted water to cover to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until softened, 10-12 minutes. While potatoes cook, peel and mince shallot. Trim ends off green beans. Pat steaks dry, and season both sides with ½ tsp. salt and a pinch of pepper.

Step 2 - Make the Dauphinoise Potatoes

Strain softened potato slices in a colander and return to pot. Add cream, half the shallot (reserve remaining for sauce), half the Parmesan, ½ tsp. salt, and ¼ tsp. pepper to pot and stir gently. Transfer potatoes to prepared casserole dish. You may also use a small oven-safe pan. Top with remaining Parmesan and place on prepared baking sheet to catch any drips. Bake in hot oven until cheese browns, 15-18 minutes. While potatoes bake, cook steaks.

Step 3 - Cook the Steaks

Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat. Add 2 tsp. olive oil and steaks to hot pan and cook until steaks reach a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 5-8 minutes per side Remove steaks to a plate, rest at least 5 minutes, and tent with foil. Resting cooked meats before serving makes for juicier results. Wipe pan clean and reserve.

Step 4 - Cook the Green Beans

Return pan used to cook steaks to medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil, green beans, and ¼ cup water. Bring to a simmer and cook until green beans are bright green and tender, 2-4 minutes. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Remove green beans to a plate. Wipe pan clean and reserve.

Step 5 - Make the Sauce

Return pan used to cook green beans to medium heat. Add 1 tsp. olive oil and remaining shallot to hot pan. Cook until fragrant, 30 seconds. Add demi-glace and ⅓ cup water. Bring to a simmer and cook until just thick enough to coat back of a spoon, 2-3 minutes. Remove from burner and swirl in butter. For a smoother texture, strain sauce through a wire-mesh strainer. Plate dish as pictured on front of card, drizzling sauce over steaks. Bon appétit!

Ingredients

  • 4 fl. oz. Whole Milk
  • 3 Thyme Sprigs
  • 2 Bone-in Skin-On Chicken Breasts
  • ⅗ oz. Butter
  • 2 Russet Potatoes
  • 1 oz. Grated Parmesan
  • 8 oz. Brussels Sprouts
  • 2 fl. oz. White Cooking Wine
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Recipe Steps

Before You Cook

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Thoroughly rinse produce and pat dry
  • Prepare a baking sheet with foil and cooking spray
  • Ingredient(s) used more than once: milk, thyme

Step 1 - Sear the Chicken

Pat chicken breasts dry, and season both sides with ¼ tsp. salt and a pinch of pepper. Place a medium oven-safe non-stick pan over medium heat. Add butter to pan and let melt. Add chicken breasts, skin side down, and cook undisturbed until skin is browned, 6-8 minutes. Flip chicken and remove from burner. While chicken sears, make mashed potatoes.

Step 2 - Make the Mashed Potatoes

Peel and cut potatoes into 1" dice. Bring a medium pot with potatoes, enough water to cover, and 2 tsp. salt to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until potatoes are fork-tender, 15-18 minutes. Reserve ½ cup potato cooking water. Drain potatoes in a colander and return to pot. Add half the milk (reserve remaining for sauce), 2 Tbsp. potato cooking water, Parmesan, ½ tsp. pepper, and ¼ tsp. salt. Mash until smooth. Add remaining potato cooking water 1 Tbsp. at a time as needed. Cover and set aside. While potatoes cook, prepare ingredients.

Trim bottoms off Brussels sprouts and halve vertically (quarter if larger than a ping-pong ball). Stem and coarsely chop thyme.

Step 4 - Cook the Brussels Sprouts and Chicken

Place pan with chicken in hot oven and roast until golden brown and chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 12-15 minutes. Carefully, remove chicken from pan and rest 5 minutes. Reserve pan and any pan drippings. While chicken roasts, place Brussels sprouts on prepared baking sheet and toss with 1 tsp. olive oil, ¼ tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper. Spread into a single layer and roast in hot oven until browned and tender, 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle cooked Brussels with half the thyme (reserve remaining for sauce).

Step 5 - Make the Sauce

Very carefully (handle is hot!), return pan used to cook chicken to medium-high heat and add white cooking wine. Bring to a boil. Add remaining milk and return to a boil. Stir constantly until sauce thickens and a line drawn in sauce holds for about 5 seconds, 2-4 minutes. Add remaining thyme and remove from burner. Plate dish as pictured on front of card, drizzling chicken with sauce. Bon appétit!
